Thai Yoga Massage Workshop with Registered Thai Therapist Randi Morrison July 30th - 31st 2011
What is Thai Massage? Thai massage is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, physician to Buddha, more than 2,500 years ago in India. It made its way to Thailand, where the Ayurvedic techniques and principles gradually became influenced by traditional Chinese medicine. For centuries, Thai massage was performed by monks as one component of Thai medicine. What Does Thai Massage Feel Like? Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage. Thai massage is also called Thai Yoga Massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai Massage is like doing yoga without any work. People describe Thai yoga massage as both relaxing and energizing. Thai Yoga Massage incorporates elements of muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure. Come experience the joy of giving and receiving a wonderful Thai Yoga Massage. Continuing Education Credit's Available for RYT's This workshop offers Level I certification in Thai Yoga Massage. This Thai Yoga Massage workshop also offers continuing education for RYT's in the category of Anatomy & Physiology. Thai Yoga Massage incorporates the study of human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) in addition to certain aspects of energy anatomy. Thai Yoga Massage incorporates the slow movement various parts of the anatomy in various yoga positions. These healthy movement patterns offer a wonderful feeling of massage, while also increasing join mobility. Randi began providing massage to patients at First Choice Chiropractic and Wellness Center, where she specialized in many cases of injury and chronic pain. After opening her own practice in 2006, she became certified as a Reiki Master. Through her years of study and practice, she now is able to pass down her knowledge and wisdom through teaching others Reiki, holding certification retreats in the mountains of beautiful North Carolina. She continues to educate herself within the field of Neuromuscular Massage and has also found a new love in Thai Massage. Currently holding over 200 hours as a Registered Thai Therapist, Randi has become well versed in this form of healing and has witnessed the deeper aspects of releases it brings to her clients on many levels. Randi’s diligence and self-study includes trips to Thailand, where she learns abroad at the Sunshine School of Massage and studies with Mama Lek and her son Jack. In the States she spends her time learning under many experts in the field including; Christopher Ray and Bob Haddad. Randi also taught courses in massage at Southeastern, the school from which she graduated. She believes that a good massage therapist is a combination of passion, knowledge, and intuition. She has a high degree of sensitivity toward others and continually works to expand her knowledge in order to provide her clients with the greatest level of care possible. Her firm belief is “You can’t give what you don’t have. I am here to help release the pain, quiet the mind and bring awareness.” This workshop is for ALL LEVELS. You can come with a partner or by yourself and we'll pair you up with another attendee or the teacher! Please bring a yoga mat, water and any other items you need for yoga practice.
