This immersion will equip the participant to teach yoga to children, ages 4-18, in a fun and effective class setting, utilizing breathing/pranyama, asanas/postures, relaxation techniques, and creative games to improve the child’s overall health, well-being and function. The participant will also learn a holistic assessment of the child, providing the information needed for a more individualized approach. Some attention will be given to the young athlete and the child with special physical or sensory needs.
We'll teach you the skills necessary to practice yoga therapy for children with hypotonia, hypertonia, musculoskeletal imbalance, chronic and/or progressive disorders, and sensory dysfunction. You'll learn to perform a unique and functional assessment to determine the needs of each child and to utilize breathing/pranyama, asanas/postures, sound therapy, and relaxation techniques to improve the child’s overall health, well-being and function.  This session is highly recommended for anyone working with children who have special needs.
